One Singaporean man has given the gift of pranking this Christmas.
A man has managed to sell a discarded Sony PlayStation 5 box he found in a trash bin for S$30 for someone’s Christmas prank gift.
“On Thursday, I was going to my void deck to throw some rubbish when I spotted a pristine PS5 box that someone had just [thrown] away. I thought to myself, Christmas is coming and this would make a great prank!” Leslie Koh said in his latest update yesterday.
Koh spotted the box Thursday at his housing void deck while he was throwing away trash and picked it up thinking it would be a “great prank” to offer buyers on popular shopping platform Carousell.
“Use it to prank your male friends or buddies this Xmas!” the sale description read, with inexplicable gender bias.
Within hours, an interested buyer contacted Koh and offered his full asking price of S$30. Though he had his doubts, Koh accepted, becoming S$30 richer for a piece of trash.
“Within a day, I received a message that someone was interested but I was skeptical. And then it happened guys. I SOLD IT. A BOX THAT I PICKED IT FOR NOTHING AND MADE $30,” he wrote.
Koh reminds those who think they might be getting a new PlayStation this Christmas to be wary.
“Manage your expectations if you’re getting a PS5 for Christmas. It might be just the box,” he added.
The latest gaming console which launched in November retails for S$599 (US$449) and is marked up to over S$1,000 on resale sites due to high demand.

Singapore will enter the Phase 3 from 28 December 2020, as announced on 14 December 2020. After a 55-day circuit breaker and a two-week implementation of Phase 1 guidelines, the country has been adhering to regulations in Phase 2 in what seemed like forever (technically it’s only been since mid-June, but we’re just being dramatic here). Six months later, we finally have news about moving into Phase 3 while the first shipment of vaccines will…
